[ He's got too much energy to be able to just sit there and let this happen, but at the same time, he feels frozen in place. He balls his hands up and rests them on his knees, digging his fists into his skin while so much of him quivers. He nods, a lot, as he always does when he's overcome with emotion and choking on the thousands of words he has to say, and-- and he thinks of his mom, and how happy she would be, if she knew this had finally fucking worked out for him.

When Poe kisses him, Owain tries hard to match the calm, firm pressure of the lips on his, but he keeps smiling and making any real kissing possible. It ends up being a series of joyful little pecks broken up by nervous giggling and flushed excitement, with the occasional "augh!" from Owain when he slaps at his cheeks to try to wipe the stupid grin off his face and treat this moment with the seriousness it deserves. It doesn't work.

He ends up just kinda crawling into Poe's lap and locking his legs around his hips, holding his hands to Poe's cheek. ]

Just-- god. Augh. Stay still. I'm gonna do this! I'm gonna kiss you and it won't be stupid.

[ he takes a deep breath. he closes distance between them, and this time the kiss is soft and gentle and meaningful, wih Owain holding his breath the whole time and putting so, so much work into staying calm. ]

[Poe's not making the kissing any easier, since he keeps laughing, the happiness bubbling up to poor out of him against his will.

He pulls Odin further into his lap, locking his arms around the man's waist.]

I'll believe it when I see it. [The teasing is incredibly fond.

When Odin finally kisses him properly, time slows to a crawl. It doesn't make sense - they'd been kissing mere minutes ago - but now Poe's heart was slamming so hard and fast that he was sure Odin could hear it.

It was strange. It wasn't like he hadn't known that Odin loved him. Even without directly saying so, Poe could read it from a hundred miles away. But something about hearing it, confirming it - it just made his chest burn so brightly he couldn't stop it.

He couldn't let Odin miss out on the feeling.

He'd never been good at time anyway. He fell hard and fast for Finn, and even though that had ebbed almost fully into something platonic, Odin... Owain was something completely fucking different. So he let out a low moan and pulled back just enough to murmur against Odin's lips.]

If it's not obvious yet, Owain-

Pretty sure I'm in love with you, too.

[ The teasing only makes it worse for Owain, because he laughs as clear as a bell at the sound of it, already ruining the kiss he was trying so hard to make perfect. But he gets back into it, warm and opening up every part of him to Poe, his hands anchored around him to hold himself steady.

But then Poe says those words, and-- it's cliche, at this point, the prickling in his eyes that threatens to overtake him every time he's this happy, but fuck, he can't help it. This is just what Poe does to him, what he's always done to him - flood him with so much emotion from every direction that he can't take it and it all tumbles out of him in these stupid, embarrassing little ways. When he laughs again, it's watery and broken under the tears he's quickly mopping up, and he gives up on trying to kiss him properly. Fuck. ]

Say--

[ He wipes his eyes again, and he stares at Poe with an almost furious determination, his nose red and everything about him just - bright. ]

Say it again. Please. If you want. Please.

[It is, in short, incredibly endearing.

Everything about Owain always has been, on some level, which is why Poe took to him so quickly. It wasn't what made him fall for him - that was a darker thread, tied to war and loss and grief - but it still made his heart glow.

He grasped Owain's face with both hands, gentle but firm, and pulled him down a little - but instead of going for a kiss, Poe's lips pressed against the edge of Owain's eyes, banishing any remaining tears.]

I love you, Owain.

[He pulled back far enough to be able to read Owain's face, his own smile painfully wide.]

Sorry it took so long to figure that out.

[ He shakes his head, this time, fast enough to make himself dizzy as everything swims. He still just wants to touch Poe, to hold him, to feel his warmth bleed into him and to hear his heartbeat inches away from his own, so when Poe pulls back, even just far enough to look at him, it doesn't last long before Owain's leaning further in and nestling into him again.

It's hard to understand him, with his mouth buried against Poe's shoulder, but he doesn't give a shit. He just wants a hug. ]

No. No. It's-- fine? It's fine. I don't care. I didn't think I'd ever-- I didn't think this would ever happen. And it-- is. So. It's. Fine.

[ Owain puts his entire weight on Poe to drag him down onto the matress, and when they're laying down, he hooks his leg around Poe's and keeps an arm around his chest. Just trying to get as much contact as he can.

He's already basically said this next part, but his thoughts are scrambled and it's hard for him to stay focused on one thing. He takes a deep breath. ]

I'm gonna--

I'm gonna give you my mom's ring. Some day. I think. If that's okay.

[He doesn't fight it, sinking into the bed quite contentedly, linking a leg around Owain's and looping an arm around his waist, pressing his face into Owain's hair and breathing in deep.

Damn, he smelled good.]

What, you proposing already? [His voice was incredibly soft and fond.]

[Owain never did anything by half measures, and Poe respected that. Loved it, even. Even when Poe had been waffling, Owain had always been all-in. It didn't even feel weird, to have him say something like that. It just... felt like Owain. So he just squeezed a little tighter and chuckled into his hair.]

You gotta wait at least long enough for me to get my mom's resized, alright?

[ Odin laughs, just as soft and just as fond, but he doesn't answer right away. Just lets the joke hang in the air for a minute as he feels every part of him relax into Poe's hug. ]

I am literally proposing, yeah. Or - proposing a proposal? Proposing a proposal, I guess. Like - like I'm saying that one day I'll...

[ He trails off and angles himself to look into Poe's eyes. His own are wide an a little nervous, but - excited? Excited. ]

Th--

That-- okay. I mean-- yeah. But-- but I'm not taking that as a joke. That wasn't-- I'm deciding that that shit you just said just now wasn't a joke! Okay?! You're getting your mom's resized, you piece of shit! [ He puts his hands on Poe's neck and kisses him on the forehead. ] That--

I'm not even fucking around anymore. I'm proposing. Properly. You don't have to answer? Because this is a really stupid way to propose? You haven't even said you're my boyfriend and I'm already quietly collapsing in on myself at the thought of being your husband or-- listen. Listen.

Poe Dameron - [ He scoots down a little more so they're perfectly eye level, but keeps himself held tight against him - ]

Will you maybe consider totally taking my mom's ring when I resize it and then also wear it and then also do the same with your mom's ring for me so that I can also wear it and then maybe also consider this stupid thing I'm saying right now as a nebulous and innocuous proposal that isn't necessarily making you commit to anything that might make you uncomfortable while we're this early in our relationship (if what we have between us right now is a relationship) but is nevertheless committing yourself to the role of being a person that I love and I guess vice versa at the same time, also?

[Odin was very close, at this range, but Poe didn't seem to mind. The fond, amused smile was impossible to contain, his eyes crinkling with it.]

You have absolutely no idea how to do anything by half measures, do you?

[The fondness - no, the love in that statement was all too easy to read. It coated every word: full, and round, and warm.

He raised a hand to Owain's cheek, the pad of his thumb running over his skin, scanning his face like he was trying to memorise it.]

Yeah, alright. [He didn't look like he was going to say anything, there was no lead up to the words. He was looking at Odin, silent (if happy) and then they just came out.]

Let's do that.

[ He's stunned, not so much by how suddenly and easily the words seem to come, but by the fact that they came at all. He feels his heart twist in half, filled to breaking point with so much love and need that he doesn't know what to do with himself, and his eyelids are tremoring, a little, as the tears begin to come.

He nods through it all. He finds Poe's left hand, and he laces their fingers together, leaning down to press his lips to his ring finger. ]

Let's do that, then.

[ He lets go. Breathes out. Tries to stay steady, but just thinks of how badly he wants his mom to meet Poe. One day. ]

Anything you wanna do after we get married? If-- if that's-- I mean. [ He breathes out. ] I mean, just. Hypothetically. If we get married, one day. I want-- I need you to meet my family. Somehow. I'll travel through time and tide to bring you to their doorstep, if I have to. I'm not going to miss out on seeing you get your ribs crushed by my mom when she hugs you.

[Poe couldn't help it, a low chuckle rumbling in his chest as he leaned in, pressing his lips to the edge of Owain's eye to brush away the moisture there.]

Hey. Come back to the present for a couple minutes? I kind of want to enjoy where we are right now.

The rest will all come later, alright? Don't need to rush it.

We'll steal all the time we can.

[ Right. He nods. Right. Right. Enjoying where they are right now - wrapped up in each other, a ring for the both of them. He should be embarrassed, getting as carried away as he did, but-- fuck, his mom would be so proud of him. Proud to know Poe. That's all he can keep thinking about. ]

[ It's a stupid question, really, given the rings and what they might represent, but it's one that should have been asked months ago, and it's rolling out of him before he can stop it, like a nervous teenager in front of someone far too out of his league. ]

Would-- you like-- to go on a date with me? Would you be interested in-- if I set that up?
