Um, no. Not necessary. I just want you to feel comfortable. Going to sleep with a stranger watching over you isn't - easy? I think. So. I'll be there soon.

[ beep! he hangs up. he rushes the fuck over to De Chima, which is a pretty far trek from where he's been staying, but he shows up in about twenty-five minutes, a notepad under his arm already scribbled on with ideas.

He doesn't stop to think about the safety of doing this, with the nanites affecting everyone the way they are. All Odin can focus on, as he knocks on the door to De Chemia 08, is the fact that somebody's struggling and he has it in him to ease that. ]

Hey! Hey.

Um, okay - so. [ he flips through the pages in his notepad, scrutinizing various dreams he'd scrawled on the way over here. his handwriting is surprisingly neat, for somebody who wrote while he was walking. ]

I tried to come up with things that would make you feel - I don't know. Safe. Loved. There's a dream which is just, like-- you're in bed, it's early morning, everything is warm and comfortable and golden, you don't have anything to do all day except sleep and be safe. Then, um - one that's just you, in a featureless room, floating, peaceful. Uh - a date? Do you go on dates? I wrote one where you could spend time with a person you love, just holding hands and walking through the city at night... oh! Oh! This one! This one. [ he points to a page, frantic. ]

Baby animals! Baby animals. You're surrounded by a thousand baby animals and all of them want to give you a kiss. I can do something else, too, but-- yeah. Anything?

[Eli knows Odin's face from tv but he's not going to judge based on whatever that tv programme showed (I mean, frankly, Eli felt bad for Odin in that whole awkward... Poe confession episode that finally had him turning off the entire thing).

Part of him knows Odin has a point about the sleeping with a stranger around however, he is tired and will just about pass out with very little effort.

And, frankly, Odin isn't intimidating. He's — kind of sweet. Eli isn't sure what to make of him just yet (default is to like).]

I've never gone on a date.

[He tries to think of going on a date with Thrawn and his brain blanks out. They really don't have that kind of relationship. Spending time together —]

Honestly, whatever you want to try. How about the first one? Just warm and comfortable and bed. The baby animals sounds like a second good choice if you wanted to try that.

[Eli grins.]

[ Odin takes the information about Eli's lack of dating experience in stride, just shrugging a little like it doesn't really change anything. Or matter? Because it doesn't, and he doesn't want Eli to think he's judging him or gives a damn about whether or not he's been out with people before. ]

I used to have, like - this dream? Or - a fantasy, I guess. I used to daydream about some cool, badass, gallant hero riding in on a white horse and saving me from all my problems. They'd take me away and we'd grow up and get married and become noble heroes who live together day by day fighting wrongs and delivering justice? It's something I thought about a lot, back when I was-- [ literally any age up to and including his current age of twenty three ] --a kid. So.

[ He stares at the page in his hand. ]

I don't know why I'm telling you that? I guess, just, it's fun to imagine... date... stuff. Even if you've never... uh. What am I even-- nevermind. Let's move on.

[ he is overtly red as he flips back to that first dream, and with one quick look for assent at Eli, he starts writing a little more on the page. ]

Okay. Um, we should go to your bed or whatever? Just lay down and get comfortable wherever it is you wanna sleep and then, um - we can talk about something until you fall asleep, and I'll watch over you while you dream. Is that okay?

[Odin is different, very much from what Eli is used to but he's not one to judge. Plus, he's grateful for the help.]

Alright, come on up.

[Eli's room is tidy enough, a little chaotic in the corners where books are piled up lazily. He plops down on his bed moving back so Odin has a space to sit while Eli lies down. ]

You can sit on the bed or the chair? Whatever is more comfortable for you and you can work your magic.

[A grin before he lies down and tries to, well, do as he's been instructed by Odin.]

[ Odin... Odin doesn't handle awkward silences very well? He steadily reddens, until Eli speaks again, and then he breathes out, releasing tension. God. He settles in on the bed, his decision to be here rather than in the chair based entirely on a subconscious need to be close to people, rather than any active thought. ]

Okay...

[ The hard part. Wasting time until sleep takes Eli on its own. ]

Just - try and sleep, okay? I can tell you a story, or - or something. Or we could just talk about ourselves? Get to know each other, maybe... we could play two truths and a lie? Let's do that. I'll say two truthful things about myself and one thing that's a lie - and you try to guess the lie. Then - you do the same thing. And I'll guess. Okay? We're gonna be friends after this. I guarantee it.

So... okay. I'm royalty. I can turn into a dog. I'm super in love right now. Go.

[Eli grins, he doesn't mind this at all.]

Never played that, so sure let's go.

[Eli closes his eyes and listens to Odin's three things.

Royalty? Maybe. Eli doesn't know. Turn into a dog? In this place is probably more likely than he thinks. Love? (at that thought Eli smiles a little more) Well, he had seen the show.]

The first. Royalty is maybe a lie?

[ Odin laughs, but he keeps it soft. He keeps his whole voice soft, actually - quiet and gentle and soothing, to help Eli feel comfortable and drift off to sleep. ]

Nope. Can't turn into a dog. I'm a prince back home. Second to the Exalthood in the kingdom of Ylisse. Fourth, depending on who you ask. Sometimes fifth? It's confusing, but nobility always is.

[ If he were close to Eli, he'd be smoothing his hair back from his forehead, at this point, or holding his hand and drawing his thumb over his skin in slow, soft circles. As it is, he just pulls his knees up to his chest and rests his chin on them, gazing into the distance, letting himself relax. ]

Your turn. Tell me something special about you.

Oh. Sorry. I sort of figured you would have something to do with dogs because you're so cuddly? Friendly.

[Eli gives a smile that is interrupted by a yawn.]

Me? Hm. Three things, okay. First thing would be: I'm in love with someone. Second uh, I don't know how to swim, and three... back home I live on an ice planet.

Is that enough?
