I tried talking to him, reasoning with him — would you want to see our conversation? I don't know if that will help you or make things worse. This isn't in my abilities to control but he can't go on this way.

Drinking, fighting, acting like he's a one-man army and wanting to bear all the burdens himself, blaming himself for everything... I think that is the gist of it.

I'm not going to stop speaking to him over this. In a way, I understand but it is also incredibly selfish of him to do this. What he needs is a swift kick in the rear but from someone close enough to have an impact.

He's shit at words and focuses only on actions, that's not a bad thing per se but on this level it is. I'm at a loss because I tried words and reason — the only thing I can think of is putting him in the corner until he calms down.
