well we weren't able to actually date. like. our shoeboxes full of baggage, confusion and strong feelings were shoved under the bed while IMH was filming but like. we got to steal away moments to ourselves? which honestly was kinda good to cement things together, without the pressure of other people while we adjusted to the changes we brought on ourselves? sure, there was the crushing pressure of the impending threat of being discovered or sued but like. We took it at our own pace and honestly, it helped.

Yeah, going at our own pace really helped. Especially because - for me, at least, a lot of it was kind of a whirlwind until the road trip? It was all exciting and nerve-wracking and explosive and when we finally hit the road in Peter's car and just got out of town for a while, spending our nights together under the stars and shit - that was when it felt real.

I mean, it always felt real, but that's when it felt, like. Total.

We kind of didn't date date because of the whole secret celebrity super-pressure thing? But. I mean, you don't have to do anything, when it comes to dating. Ever. No matter what the circumstances are.

A date is just time you spend with somebody you like who makes you happy? I'm happiest with Peter when we're just chilling - I loved the road trip because we just got away together and talked. I don't think anything in life makes me feel as good as I do in that moment where, like, I'm putting my key in the apartment door and knowing I have hours of just being with him to look forward to. You know?

Don't feel like you have to buy Ronan fancy dinners or whatever if that's not what he's into. Or what you're into. Just set aside an evening for stuff that makes you happy, or stuff that might be fun to do together.

You're going to be happy just spending a night alone with him, right? Holding hands, smooching a lot, telling each other you like one another. Keeping your hands above each other's belts, because you'll have time for that when you're 21.
You're going on a date with someone special! You're allowed to want your first date with them to be special. He's allowed to want to give you that, too.
There's no pressure here, man. For either of you.
If he's doing something big and exciting, it's because he wants to do something big and exciting. Because he likes you.

[he doesn't know how many different ways Odin has to say it (or how similarly it has to sound to something his mom would have said -- he won't look too deeply at that) before Magnus finally -- gets it. dating can be whatever he, they want; that just because it's all new and so very frazzled up inside him, doesn't mean it won't be special. that he can't have special, with the boy he thinks is more special than anyone]

[the only pressure is what Magnus is putting on himself (breathe, Pumpkin). he's going to have fun tonight, like he always does, because he always has fun with Ronan, and they'll work all the new changes to their dynamic together. because they like each other]

[ and odin panic-kicks peter, finally. just smacks him in the face with the back of his foot. groans and caterpillars his way up to lay on top of him, head on peter's chest. he's emotional and he doesn't know what to do with that energy so he just idly sets his teeth against peters collarbone and makes a loud, humming noise of complaint. one that transforms into a very angry hhhhhhhhgggggggaaaaaaaaaaah as he puts his phone behind peter's shoulder and types over the top of it. ]

[Magnus bursts out laughing. after all that -- after the somersaults his feelings have been doing in his chest, it's weirdly the perfect advice to end on (some comic relief after the buzzing out of his skin he's been doing, since basically the moment Ronan left his house this morning)]

after my mom died, i didn't think i'd have someone to talk to about stuff like this. like, who could help me when it was hard or i didn't know what i was doing or felt like i was too broken.

[ odin's - moved. he's still on top of peter, kind of dropping his weight against him and settling in whether he wants an Odin Blanket or not. for a moment he doesn't know what to say? he'd always seen his mom and dad in magnus so it's kind of nice to feel like maybe he's the one stepping up and doing good. he knows peter helped magnus during the wolf attack and with a shared urge to look out for someone new in their lives it feels more and more like he's settling into his sort-of-but-not-really married life with peter by being a reliable adult. he hopes he can keep it up. ]

It's okay. I love you. We both love you.
I know this doesn't really need to be said, but you should feel comfortable coming to us about anything you need. We've both been through a lot. Seen a lot.
Peter's the most reliable and admirable man I've ever met and I think I'm pretty OK at advice sometimes? So. You can't get much better than that.

The bottom line of all of my advice is just that I want you to remember it's okay to be happy. You're not a burden.
To anyone. Least of all your boyfriend.
