[So they didn't exactly part on great terms because of a salty subject and Peter found himself swept away into hosting duties - which have a lot more direction than just being an aimless contestant in space, he's finding out. When they're not harping in his earpiece about what he's wearing or should be wearing, they're telling him where to stand or what information he should be bringing up in interviews or prodding at to get some juicy TV gossip.

That or some weird narrative ad recording for the show, after which he's boredly lounging in one of the rooms they've taken up with gear and devices to keep ImPort My Heart! running. He's not cleared to go yet, something about revisions for the narration but he's literally dying with nothing to do so he does what comes instinctively:

He opens the messages on his phone and flips to the ones with Odin.]

[ his reply comes late - an hour later, maybe even more - but peter gets every passing detail on what causes the delay. the cast and crew drop odin's name like it belongs to a prop, tracking his movements and talking about him like he's a tool to be used for ratings, and every so often there'll be comments fed on the open channel in Peter's ear like alright, he's heading to the beach now and date's on schedule, things are going fine and close that shot on odin, the kid's acting dumb again.

the message in his phone remains clearly unread, but the second that flag is checked and odin's opened the message, he replies. there's an undeniable excitement in him, as he heads back from his date, seeking out peter. he thought they wouldn't talk for a while. ]

Hey!!!!!! Hahaha. Doofy. I love it. Things going okay? Scored any big interviews yet?

[Peter's still lounging, but has a half eaten sandwich for his troubles - his appetite isn't as big as it should be, partially because he spent most of today feeling oddly unsettled. He chalks it up to the hosting job and the constantly moving environment here but there's some other tension in him that keeps him high strung. He doesn't relax until he gets a ping notif from his phone, small smile quirking as Odin's finally replied.]

[ another delay, but smaller this time. being guided by crew through unnecessary checks, being told to do a walking head for the camera. he rushes through it as fast as he can. ]

[ he skips the date part, less because he doesn't want to answer and more because he's being pushed around again. another talking head - do the same one again but with more feeling, really sell it. ]

[ he goes quiet, another few minutes. directed into doing something new. this show has been overwhelming and it's making him anxious. he hits back. ]

We just gotta talk over text for a while, alright? I was gonna come up and hang with you, but I'm being called to do stuff.

Leo survived the bloodshed, among three others. Stayed cutthroat, as he had to be. But I've known him since he was twelve? And the last six years of my life back home have been dedicated to protecting him. Keeping him alive. Answering his whims, as his servant and guardian. I'm one of his only friends. All he's got in America, for sure. And, like. I'll be leaving him one day, and he doesn't know that? I love him and I've pledged fealty to him and I need him to stay happy and healthy in the short time we have together. That's all it comes down to, really. His cruelty is all he's known. His edges will soften, now that he's here. You don't have to worry so much about how he treats me. He's big on cuddles. He's just secretive about it.
